God’s Kindness in Our Busy Lives: Recognizing His Grace in Everyday Moments

— by

In the busyness of life as a working mom, it can be easy to overlook the small but powerful ways that God shows His kindness to us daily. Between work deadlines, school drop-offs, family responsibilities, and trying to carve out a little time for ourselves, our days can feel like a blur. Yet, God’s kindness is always present, gently woven into the fabric of our lives, offering moments of grace and love even in the most hectic of seasons.

Let’s take a moment to pause and reflect on how God’s kindness shows up in our busy lives and how we, in turn, can extend that kindness to others.

God’s Ultimate Act of Kindness

When we talk about God’s kindness, it’s impossible not to start with the ultimate act of kindness—His gift of salvation. Titus 3:4-5 reminds us of the depth of God’s love and kindness toward us:

“But— When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.” -‭‭ Titus‬ ‭3‬:‭4‬-‭5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God’s kindness is not earned by anything we do, nor is it conditional on our achievements or failures. It is given freely because of His mercy. This incredible truth is one we can cling to when life feels overwhelming. No matter how chaotic or imperfect our days may be, God’s kindness remains steadfast. He extends His grace to us in our weakness, in our mistakes, and even in our exhaustion.

Recognizing God’s Kindness in Everyday Moments

Though we may not always notice it, God’s kindness surrounds us in the ordinary, everyday moments. He is present in the small graces that make our days a little brighter and in the mercies that sustain us when we’re feeling overwhelmed.

  • In the Morning Sunrise: When we wake up to the beauty of a new day, that is God’s kindness on display. Lamentations 3:22-23 reminds us that His mercies are new every morning. Each sunrise is a reminder that we are given a fresh start, a new opportunity to experience His grace.
  • In Provision for Our Needs: Whether it’s a roof over our heads, food on the table, or the strength to tackle another day, God’s kindness shows up in the ways He meets our daily needs. Sometimes we get so used to these blessings that we forget to recognize them for what they are—gifts of grace.
  • In Unexpected Blessings: A moment of laughter with your children, a kind word from a coworker, or even an extra 10 minutes of quiet time can be seen as God’s way of reminding us that He cares about the details of our lives. His kindness often comes in the form of little surprises that lift our spirits and remind us of His love.
  • In Comfort During Hard Times: Life isn’t always easy, but God’s kindness doesn’t disappear when we face struggles. In fact, it’s often in the tough seasons that we experience His kindness most profoundly—whether through the encouragement of a friend, the peace of His presence, or the strength to keep going when we feel like giving up.

Extending God’s Kindness to Others

As we reflect on the many ways God shows kindness to us, we are called to extend that same kindness to others. Just as His love and grace are freely given, we are encouraged to share His kindness with the people in our lives.

  • In Your Family: Kindness begins at home. Whether it’s through a gentle word to your spouse or an extra dose of patience with your children, small acts of kindness can transform the atmosphere in your household. Ephesians 4:32 encourages us to “be kind and compassionate to one another,” and this can be especially impactful in our families.
  • At Work: Your workplace can be one of the most challenging environments to practice kindness, especially when stress levels are high. But offering to help a coworker, speaking words of encouragement, or simply showing patience during a busy day can reflect God’s kindness to those around you. In doing so, you create an environment of grace and teamwork.
  • To Strangers: Acts of kindness to strangers often reflect God’s love in powerful ways. Holding the door open for someone, letting a car merge in front of you, or even offering a smile can brighten someone’s day and remind them that they are seen and valued.
  • To Yourself: Don’t forget to show kindness to yourself. As working moms, we tend to put everyone else’s needs first, often neglecting our own. But self-kindness is crucial to maintaining balance. This might mean taking time for rest, setting boundaries, or simply giving yourself grace when things don’t go as planned. Remember, God’s kindness toward you isn’t dependent on how well you perform. You are loved and valued just as you are.

Living Out Kindness as a Reflection of God’s Love

When we recognize God’s kindness in our own lives, we become more equipped to share that kindness with others. The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 19:17, “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward them for what they have done.” Every act of kindness, whether big or small, is a reflection of God’s love. It’s an opportunity to be His hands and feet in a world that desperately needs grace and compassion.

As working moms, our days are often filled to the brim with tasks and responsibilities. Yet, when we pause to notice the kindness of God woven into our lives, we find the strength to pass that kindness along to others—even in the busyness. In doing so, we not only bless those around us but also experience the fullness of God’s love in return.

God’s kindness is present in every corner of our lives, from the beauty of a sunrise to His comfort in difficult times. It’s a constant reminder of His grace and mercy, even when life feels overwhelming. As we go about our busy days, may we take time to recognize these moments of kindness and allow them to fill our hearts with gratitude.

And as recipients of God’s kindness, let us be intentional about sharing it with others—our families, our coworkers, and even ourselves. In doing so, we become a reflection of God’s love, spreading His grace and goodness wherever we go.
