A stampede of thoughts ran through my head as a lay there feeling stuck and confused.
Exhausted and uncertain I could keep going at such an unsustainable pace, I wondered if things would ever get any easier.

I rolled through the list of responsibilities and tasks in my head curious if anything could go.
I recalled my psychiatrist’s questioning earlier that day on various ways I could reduce stress. Rolling my eyes amused, I found comedic relief in the memory of her asking if I could go part-time at work. “In what world would I live in if that were ever a possibility? Ha!”
Yet, as I continued to ponder ways to remove things from my plate, I couldn’t help but be reminded of the familiar words of Matthew 6:31-33 (NLT):
“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”

The words soothed my soul enough that evening to ease me into sleep. My worries about work deadlines, dinner menus, and mounting laundry suddenly seemed small in light of God’s reminder: He knows what I need and provides it in due time.
This passage is a reminder that we need not be anxious about the daily monotony of working to survive and surviving to work.
While our home life and family are important, and working helps us pay bills and keep a roof over our heads, it is only God provides for every need we have in His way and in His time.
When we trust in Him and release our worries to Him, we allow Him to lead our lives and provide for our needs rather than trying to grasp so tightly for control that we are suffocating ourselves with our self-inflicted pressure.
Trusting God’s Provision at Work
I’ve always been a go-getter, constantly striving for perfection and people-pleasing, worried that my failures would equate to some form of loss whether it be of love, of people, or of work.
I am constantly seeking affirmation from others, craving more – more respect, more money, a better title, or just feeling more important.
But as I’ve grown older and have come to understand that all those things come with more responsibility, more stress, and even more judgment, I have found that my soul begins feeling more uneasy in the longing for more.
As I’ve struggled with this need for approval and significance, I’ve asked God for clarity in my next steps and comfort knowing that wherever He leads me, I am meant to be.
And to be real, I’m not sure this human weakness of mine will ever truly dissipate (type A overachiever 🙋🏼♀️), but God has given me a sense of peace about it all.
I’ve come to realize that what my family needs most isn’t more income or mom to have a better title but more of me—my attention, my presence, my energy. This means I have to release my need for control and trust God’s provision in our lives.
As busy working mamas, trusting God’s provision and relying on His peace means we walk in faith knowing that He has our best interest at heart. We must choose to focus on the balance that allows us to be fully present both at work and at home. And God will continue to be faithful to provide for our needs.

I am continuously in awe at how faithful God is even when my overzealous nature gets the best of me. Let’s allow this reminder today to be God whispering to each of us, “I’ve got you.”
Gratitude in the Everyday Chaos
In family life, trusting God’s provision looks a little different. It means finding contentment even when the house is a mess and the kids are arguing over whose turn it is to pick the movie.
It’s in these moments, when I feel stretched thin, that I remind myself of what Matthew 6 teaches: God provides not just for our material needs but for our peace, strength, and patience.
One evening, as I sat down to dinner with my family, I looked around the table. The commotion of everyone getting situated and preparing to eat felt chaotic (and loud). But when my middle daughter started singing our pre-dinner prayer, the chaos felt sacred.
In that moment, I saw God’s provision—not in perfection, but in His presence, in His gift of this beautiful family, and in the food on our table and the roof over our heads.
Seek First the Kingdom
Living with gratitude for God’s provision doesn’t mean every day will feel easy or that our problems will disappear. But it does mean shifting our focus from the “what ifs” to the “right now.”
Instead of worrying about how we’ll meet every demand, we start by seeking His kingdom.
Seeking His kingdom might look like spending a few minutes in prayer before diving into the day’s chaos.
It might mean choosing to serve a coworker or love a family member well, even when you’re overworked and just plain over it all.
Gratitude for God’s provision is the daily act of trusting that when we put God first, everything else will fall into place—perhaps not the way we expected, but always in the way we need. And for that, we can be truly grateful.

A Heart of Gratitude
As Thanksgiving approaches, I challenge you to pause and reflect: Where have you seen God’s provision in your life this year? Was it in an answered prayer, a quiet reassurance, or an unexpected blessing?
For me, it’s been in the small moments: the quiet strength to finish a hard day, the laughter shared around the dinner table, the loving embrace from my husband after we win the bedtime battle, and the gentle reminders from Scripture that God is faithful.
So let’s give thanks—not just for the big wins but for the daily bread, the unseen ways God provides, and the reminder that we are never alone.
Remember, friend, God knows what you need. Trust Him with your career, your family, and your heart. And as you seek Him first, you’ll find that His provision is more than enough.
