“How does she do it all?”
If you’ve ever scrolled through Instagram and found yourself wondering this about another mom, you’re not alone.
As busy moms, we’re juggling work deadlines, school drop-offs, dinner prep, and endless to-do lists – while often feeling like we’re falling short.
The pressure to find the elusive “work-life balance” can feel overwhelming.
But what if I told you that most of what you’ve been told about balance isn’t just wrong – it’s keeping you stuck in an endless cycle of chaos and confusion? Is it possible to live a life of peace and purpose and still have both a job and a life?
I think we as busy mamas need to break free from the all-things-to-all-people-all-the-time trap. The pressure to do it all is just setting us up for failure.
The Problem with “Doing It All”
Let’s start with the truth: balance isn’t about perfection.
It’s NOT about dividing your time equally between work, family, and personal goals like a perfectly sliced pie chart.

Instead, it’s about aligning your time and energy with what matters most.
Unfortunately, there are myths about work-life balance that make busy moms feel like we’re failing if we don’t have it all figured out.
These myths often fuel guilt, overwhelm, and burnout, leaving us stuck in a cycle of trying to do more while feeling like we’re accomplishing less.
We are often run down, unmotivated to keep going at this breakneck speed, and just plain over. it. all.
If this sounds familiar, you are not alone – and you are not the problem.
The myths are the real problem. And we’ve got to break free from them if we are ever going to break the cycle of burnout, overwhelm, and mom guilt plaguing our society right now.
Enough is enough, Mama!
3 Common Myths About Work-Life Balance
We have been sold a bill of goods that just don’t exist. Here are just a few of the lies we’ve been brainwashed to believe when it comes to balance:
Myth 1: “Balance means everything gets equal attention.”
Reality check: Some seasons will demand more of you in one area than another. Balance is about flexibility, not rigid schedules. It is impossible to do all the things all the time – let alone do them all well!
Myth 2: “You should always feel in control.”
The truth? Life is messy, and no one has it perfectly together. Real balance comes from learning to pivot and let go when things don’t go as planned.
Even a juggler can’t keep all the balls in the air at the same time – eventually, if you’re going to keep doing things well, you have to let a ball drop every now and again.
Myth 3: “If you just work harder, you can do it all.”
Just nope. Doing more doesn’t mean doing better. Real balance is about doing what matters most – not everything.
To find the peace we are seeking for our souls, we must prioritize our core values and eliminate or delegate the rest.
If you work harder and attempt to “do it all,” you will burnout and your body and mind will begin to break down and beg for mercy.
Mama, even the Proverbs 31 woman didn’t do it all herself!
“She gets up before dawn to prepare breakfast for her household and plan the day’s work for her servant girls.” -Proverbs 31:15 NLT
She knew that her time was best spent in particular areas of her life so she hired helpers for the rest. She focused on what matters most to her and her household and released the rest to others who were highly capable to completing those other tasks.

These myths are just scratching the surface of all the misconceptions we have as busy, working mamas.
But here’s the good news: You can let go of these beliefs and build a life of purpose, peace, and progress – even in the chaos of motherhood.
And I want us to walk through this process together and redefine what work-life balance really is one step at a time.
