When did I start that load of laundry in the washer? Do I need to restart it… again?
Shoot! I forgot to call about scheduling that birthday party—again.
I need to buy the kids some shorts and running shoes. I wonder if they’ve sized up.
Standing in the kitchen, sautéing the dinner my kids were inevitably going to declare dee-scusting, I ran through my mental list and sighed.
No one else could see the checklist scrolling through my head—doctor’s appointments to reschedule, birthdays to remember, kindergarten enrollment paperwork to complete, Easter basket fillers to buy, temper tantrums to figure out. And in that moment, it all felt heavy… and invisible.
That’s the thing about motherhood. So much of what we do is unseen.
There’s the physical work—like bathing the kids and scrubbing floors—but also the emotional labor and the mental load that rarely gets acknowledged. The planning, the remembering, the checking in, the never-ending cycle of trying to stay two steps ahead for everyone else.
It’s easy to wonder: Does any of this even matter? Does anyone see how hard I’m trying?
But Scripture reminds us of a quiet and powerful truth:
“Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” — Matthew 6:4
God sees it all.
Not just the big sacrifices or milestone moments—but the quiet ones. The everyday faithfulness no one claps for.
He sees the mother who gets up in the night to calm a crying child.
He sees the one who fights to stay patient in the face of toddler meltdowns or teenage mood swings.
He sees the one who carries the invisible load—the emotional weight, the constant multitasking, the background work that keeps the whole family moving forward.
Jesus Himself understood unseen faithfulness. He spent years in quiet, obedient living before ever stepping into public ministry. And even during His ministry, He often withdrew from crowds, healed in secret, and served without seeking applause.
He gets it.
He sees you.
And more than that—He honors your faithfulness.
So if today you feel overlooked, buried beneath responsibilities no one else notices, take heart: He notices.
Your daily sacrifices may be invisible to the world, but they are deeply valuable in the Kingdom of God.
You don’t have to be seen by everyone to be known by God.
Your quiet, consistent love is Kingdom work.
Encouragement for the Week Ahead:
As we move into April and approach Easter, remember that Jesus’ most powerful acts of love happened not in the spotlight, but in surrender. In small acts of service. In sacrifice. In faithfulness that no one understood at the time.
You are walking in His footsteps—one unseen act of love at a time.
Keep going, mama. You’re doing holy work.
