Easter Sunday has come and gone. The baskets have been tucked away. Life has picked right back up – busy, noisy, and often overwhelming.
And if you’re anything like me, maybe you’ve asked yourself quietly: Is this all there is to life?
We run nonstop day after day, week after week, month after month until we realize that all we’ve done is survive.
It’s easy to fall back into survival mode after a season of celebration. The laundry piles return. The to-do list fills up. And that spark of spiritual renewal starts to fade under the weight of ordinary life.
Surviving seems like the only thing we have the capacity to do outside our roles as wives, mothers, and employees.
Often “survival” means taking care of everything and everyone else while neglecting our own physical and mental wellness.
Survival isn’t the mission, Mama.
God wants so much more for us than just surviving in this season.
If you feel like you’re slipping right back into survival mode, buried in catch up work, summer prep chaos, and guilt over how behind you already feel, know that you are not alone.
We may not feel like we are living in victory after celebrating the resurrection of our Savior. We may even feel stuck.
But God wants to remind us, you and me, that this season we are in matters. And so do we. Each one of us matter as a whole person with a soul and an eternity awaiting us in Heaven sitting next to our Creator.
What if, instead of thinking about all the ways we’re behind in life, we meditate on all the good things God has prepared us in advance to do for His glory?
What if instead of living reactively in survival mode and barely getting by, we live proactively each day with renewed purpose, believing that we were made for more than just getting through?
Living Proactively in Purpose in the Present Moment
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10)

Mama, you don’t have to wait for a less chaotic season to live proactively in purpose.
God already prepared good works for you to do – in this season, in your home, in your work, in your calling.
You don’t have to have it all figured out before you take a step forward.
You don’t have to see the whole staircase before taking the first step up.
You don’t need to see the whole plan to take that first faithful step.
In fact, God wants you to lean on Him every step of the way. God will bless each obedient step you take with more clarity for the next step.
And you don’t have to strive to earn your place in Heaven. We already know that Jesus Christ did that for us and so long as we believe in Him, we are predestined to live alongside Him in eternity.
You already belong right where you are. You were created on purpose for a purpose and each obedient step you take helps Him fulfill that purpose in you and for you.
Living in Purpose in Your Current Season
Living into your calling and purpose as a working mom doesn’t mean adding more to your already full plate.
You may even wonder why I am using the word “in” instead of “on” when I say “living in purpose.”
Living on purpose may mean proactively making decisions based on how you think you’re “supposed to” live as a working mom, not how God wants you to live.
Living in purpose as a working mom means asking God to show you your next purposeful, obedient step, and then confidently walking in it.
Living in purpose may mean asking God to show you what He’s already placed in front of you and asked you to do but you were too busy living in survival mode to see it or obey it.
You may ask God to show you how to walk into that purposeful place with clarity, confidence, and courage.
Here are a few ways your “more,” or purpose, might show up in this season:
- More margin, not more hustle
Maybe God is calling you to clear the clutter and make space for what really matters.
- More purpose in your parenting
Not just getting through the day, but pointing your kids to Jesus in the small, faithful moments.
- More courage in your calling
Saying yes to the nudge to lead, write, create, teach, serve, or grow – even if you feel unqualified. God doesn’t call the equipped. He equips those He calls. You just have to step boldly into that calling and trust Him to show you the way.
- More peace in your pace
Letting go of pressure to prove and instead trusting God to lead the way, even if it’s slower than you planned.
- More calm in your career
Releasing the need to strive for more money, a better title, or recognition that may never come. Embracing your current position with calmness and clarity, avoiding the stress of striving and overworking yourself.
You Were Made for More than Survival
For so many of us, survival mode has become normal.
But that’s not the life God designed for you.
You weren’t created to walk around exhausted, reactive, and constantly stretched thin.
You were never meant to live in a tense body, fight-or-flight mind, or burned-out spirit.
You were made by God to thrive, Mama.
And thriving doesn’t mean perfect.
It means purposeful – living with intention, aligned with your values, grounded in your identity, and trusting God with the next step.
Sometimes, we just need the right support, structure, and encouragement to walk that out with confidence focused on what matters most.
