Some legacies are measured in accomplishments or possessions, but my dad’s legacy is rooted in something deeper—faith, hope, and love. These three simple words defined the way he lived, and they’ve become anchors I cling to when the waves of life feel overwhelming.
As busy moms, we often feel like we’re being pulled in a dozen directions at once, trying to keep up with work, laundry, meals, sports schedules, and the endless emotional load.
It’s easy to feel adrift, like we’re just treading water, praying not to sink. But when I remember the steady example my dad set, I realize that the same anchors that held him firm in every season can hold us, too.
The apostle Paul reminds us:
“Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.” —1 Corinthians 13:13 (NLT)

These aren’t just beautiful words to frame on the wall. They are lifelines. Faith steadies us when we feel uncertain. Hope lifts us when we’re weary. And love, God’s love for us and the love we extend to our families, grounds us in what truly matters.
Faith: Trusting God When Life Feels Heavy
My dad lived with a quiet, steady faith. He didn’t waver when life got messy. He trusted God’s promises even when he couldn’t see the outcome.
For moms, faith looks like choosing to trust God with the parts of life we can’t control. It’s whispering a prayer over our kids when we send them out the door, even when our hearts are anxious. It’s believing that even in the chaos, God is present and working all things for good.
Faith doesn’t mean the to-do list gets easier or the struggles disappear. It means we’re not carrying them alone.
Hope: Looking Ahead with Confidence
Hope was woven into my dad’s life in a way that inspired everyone around him. He always looked ahead with the confidence that God’s best was still to come.
For us as busy moms, hope means we don’t have to stay stuck in survival mode. We can believe that tomorrow can look different than today.
Hope gives us the strength to get up again after a sleepless night, to keep showing up for our families when we’re drained, and to remind ourselves that seasons of overwhelm won’t last forever.
Hope points us toward the bigger picture that God is writing a story of redemption and purpose in our lives, even in the hard moments.
Love: The Greatest Anchor of All
If there’s one thing my dad left behind more than anything else, it was love. Love for God, love for family, and love for people. Paul tells us love is the greatest because it’s the very heartbeat of God.
For moms, love is what keeps us going when our energy runs out. It’s choosing patience with our kids when we feel short-tempered, offering grace to our spouse when the day has been long, and remembering to extend that same love to ourselves.
Love doesn’t demand perfection. It simply shows up, present, kind, and faithful. And when love is the anchor, everything else falls into its proper place.

Anchored in What Matters Most
When I think of my dad’s life, I don’t just remember the things he did. I remember the anchors that steadied him: faith, hope, and love.
These same anchors are available to us as moms today. They don’t take away the busyness or the overwhelm, but they keep our hearts grounded in what truly matters.
So, the next time you feel pulled in a dozen directions, pause and ask yourself: Am I leaning into faith? Am I holding onto hope? Am I choosing love?
These three will not fail you, because they flow directly from the heart of God.
As Paul reminds us, “Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:13, NLT)
And that love is what carries us through.
